I had some of this leftover yarn that I dyed with Kool Aid (I call it Bird of Paradise) and wasn’t sure what to do with it. I ended up striping it with some soft grey to make this hat by Leethal. To add more flair to it I needle felted hearts over the ears. Because of the aviator style of the hat and the red hearts I call this hat my Amelia EarHEART hat.

I finished my test knit for Leethal. Took the photos at the Woodburn Tulip Festival. Shawl was knit with Madeline Tosh and you can read my notes on my Ravelry project page.

Every year a local gift shop has a wacky Easter bonnet contest. This is my first year entering. Knitted and crocheted buunnies, chicks, hatching eggs, flowers and a slug or two. Here’s to hoping I win!

I test knit a hat for Lee Meredith (Leethal) and made it for my husband. Looks good!

I’m not trying to turn my blog into a knitting blog or anything, but this is what happens when you’re holed up for a few days trying to get over being sick. You have all the time in the world to knit! A friend of mine handspun this stunning yarn and I fell hard for it. I bought it from her ages ago and just now found a project for it. The lace on this shawl is supposed to look like ginkgo leaves. Pretty! You can see more photos and read more details on my Ravelry page. I still have about 100 yards of this yarn left so I’m knitting a quick lace scarf with it- I’ll post pictures of that when I’m done.

I knit myself a wrap using the leftover pink and red from my Strawberry Shortcake mitts.

I finished my Strawberry Shortcake mitts! I even painted my nails to match. Read more about my knitting on my Ravelry page.

Now that I’ve finished my socks, I started on some fingerless strawberry mitts!

I knit this cowl for a friend as part of a knitting swap. Read more on my Ravelry page.

Only fair to post Bailey’s Halloween costumes. In 2006 he was due around Thanksgiving but came mid October. So he was still in the NICU for his first Halloween. I made him the teeniest, tiniest little pirate hat. 2007- Deviled Egg. 2008- He was Mr. Nielson to my Pippi Longstocking. 2009- A bat. 2010- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. 2011- Vampire. This year he wants to be Captain America. Another store bought costume. Sigh.

My youngest son Silas has had some pretty cute Halloween costumes. I’m a little bummed this year- he wants to be a cowboy. Which is totally cool except we already have everything and nothing is handmade by me.

Scarf I just finished knitting from yarn that I handspun. It’s a mulberry silk/merino wool blend from Blue Moon Fiber Arts. And it’s gorgeous.

So, this happened too. I made Katie a burger bag for her birthday. Junk food bags are in my future. I’m thinking a pizza one next. Read more on my blog.
