I had some of this leftover yarn that I dyed with Kool Aid (I call it Bird of Paradise) and wasn’t sure what to do with it. I ended up striping it with some soft grey to make this hat by Leethal. To add more flair to it I needle felted hearts over the ears. Because of the aviator style of the hat and the red hearts I call this hat my Amelia EarHEART hat.

Remember that tutorial I did last summer on dyeing yarn with Kool Aid ice cubes? Yesterday, my two sons and I did some more dyeing. They dyed the yarn themselves knowing I’ll knit it up into a new winter hat for them.

Bailey chose yellow food coloring, Kool Aid Mixed Berry, KA Black Cherry and KA Cherry for his yarn.

Silas chose green food coloring, Kool Aid Mixed Berry, KA Peach-Mango an KA Lemon-Lime for his yarn.

I dyed this yarn with Mexican “Kool Aid” that I found in a latino grocery store.

From left to right, top to bottom: 
Cantaloupe, Orange, Hibiscus, Pineapple, 
Strawberry (actual KA), Mango, Guava

This yarn I dyed I hated at first but now I absolutely love it.  I’m knitting it into socks right now and the colorway is amazing.
